(Bikini Kill) – How To Achieve Diversity In The Music Business” am Donnerstag, den 04. September 2014 von 16 bis 17 Uhr, mit Sonja Eismann, Janine Wülker, Helienne Lindvall und Thom Cummings über Diversität in der Musikbranche diskutieren.
This year Berlin Music Week focuses on the topics of Music Released.
What do you associate with this title?
First: Records and music releases, naturally.
Secondly, I'd exepct the conference question how to unleash the full potential of music culture.
Where do you see the independent sector in five years from now?
Possibly, record sales of single releases will continue to decrease, whereas the overall number of releases will continue to rise. That means it will get increasingly harder to make a living from selling records. But everybody knows that anyway.
Apart from that, I think we also the independent sector will still try to find a solution of how to handle copyright and urheberrecht in a fair and just way in 5 years either... This process is going to take very long.
What is the advantage/key to success of independent companies in your opinion?
Flexibility and very close contact to new forms of expression and fresh styles.
There is so much great music out there – what is your way of discovering new tunes?
It is still basically similar to how it worked for at least 3 decades: recommendations. I listen to music that friends and people working in the business recommend. Also, I love to listen to music friends make :)
If you have been to Berlin before: Which was your favorite spot in the city? Which food did you like most – even more than Currywurst?
My favorite spot: Hardwax. My favorite food in Berlin: fresh herbs from the turkish greengrocer around the corner from where I usually stay in Berlin.
